DrOP-IN VIRTUAL MEDITATIONS

30 minute guided meditation
|
Mindfulness meditation invites the opportunity to experience moment-by-moment awareness of one’s own inner experience: physical, mental and emotional. We know that regular practice in mindfulness meditation has scientific support for promoting overall a general sense of health and well-being. Seasoned practitioners as well as beginners, find it challenging to set aside the time to practice on one’s own and to do so consistently. Being in community helps.
Join us to practice virtually together weekly. We will be guided for 30 minutes in meditation by experienced trainers from MC4ME or our collaborators. There is no need to pre-register in advance. Come as you are. MEETUPS
SEVERAL TIMES, YEARLY
SEVERAL TIMES, YEARLY
2020–2021 DATES TBD
|
Meetups occur several times a year in order for educators to gather, network with and learn from experienced peer educators and professionals in Michigan. Often, the format involves a formal presentation, followed by structured and informal conversation. Beginning in 2020 another format will involve Book Reads. The statewide mindfulness collaboration group intends to select a topic as a community read. Facilitators from these local mindfulness organizations will spearhead meetings on one or several books for the year. For 2020-21, the selected topic is applying mindfulness to racial and social justice.

Coming Back to Ourselves: A Half-Day Mindfulness Retreat in the Comfort of Your Home
Our half-day mindfulness retreats offer participants needed time to re-calibrate and connect to themselves. They are held twice a year, typically in person and throughout southeastern Michigan. Through a series of guided sitting and gentle movement meditation practices, participants discover the ability to settle, soften and feel replenished. In community and silence, they experience the opportunity to just BE and can return to their work lives better equipped to manage the stress of daily living and caring for others. For parents, educators and professionals who care for others, it is so essential to take this time to nourish oneself in this way. Our retreats are geared for both newcomers and people with prior experience in mindfulness. |
The practice of mindfulness rests upon a spirit of radical investigation into the basic question: What is it like to be human? To feel hope and fear, joy and pain, happiness and sadness?”
– Oren Sofer, Mindfulness Teacher and Author
