Mindfulness is the natural human capacity to pay attention to the present moment. By using proven, research-based practices to cultivate mindfulness skills, educators and students alike can learn to improve their capacity to focus, self-regulate their emotions, and achieve more optimal mental health. Mindfulness skills are especially useful for educators who are shown known to have the highest level of burnout amongst all professions.
In this day long- workshop, participants will learn about the effects of stress and mindfulness on health, well-being, classroom teaching as well as student outcomes. Educators will have opportunity to experience mindfulness by introduction to a few practices and activities. Through didactic presentation of materials, discussion and experiential practice, participants will explore the ways in which they can use mindfulness practices to decompress in the moment and bring a sense of steadiness to whatever challenges arise. Information on how mindfulness can be incorporated into daily life for self-care as well as how mindfulness curricula have been incorporated in classrooms and schools will be explored. Options for future skills-based training that focus on developing educator’s capacity to practice mindfulness will be shared, along with learning resources. |
This workshop truly reinforced the need for self-mindfulness care. It reinforced the belief that we need to take care of ourselves, so that we can be a better self to then take care of others around us. The activities that were shared were fabulous. I’m very appreciative of the resources that were shared. I am extremely thankful for all of your hard work, dedication, passion, time and effort.”
