Mindfulness Curricula

Our collaborative has been trained to deliver a variety of evidenced based mindfulness curricula to parents and educators.   We are also able to adapt and customize training from these and other models.  The curricula we currently offer include:

1. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program is an evidenced based instructional program that was originally developed by Jon Kabat Zinn. This is an eight-week training program to enable participants to take an active role in the management of their health, stress, emotions, pain and overall wellness. There is over 30 years of research on the MBSR program showing its efficacy in reducing anxiety and stress in daily life and improving overall quality of life.

2. SMART (Stress Management and Relaxation Techniques)
The SMART-in-Education program originally developed in Colorado by the IMPACT foundation  involves either a 20 or 36 hour program of didactic and group discussion activities, mindfulness practices, and homework assignments delivered over eight to nine weekly 2 - 2.5-hr sessions and a full day.  Emphasis throughout the training is focused on helping participants gain greater concentration, and attention, understanding and regulation of emotions, and capacity for empathy, compassion and forgiveness.

3. Mindful Schools
Mindful Schools provides online and in-person training courses for adults, educators, and youth-service providers to learn mindfulness and teach it to youth. To date, the curriculum has been taught to over 200,000 children in 40+ U.S. states and 20+ countries. Mindfulness is a critical life skill that can help children deal with the conditions around them, whether at home or at school.  www.MindfulSchools.org

4. MindUP
This social and emotional literacy curriculum and  training program was created by Goldie Hawn, the academy award winning actress and a team of experts.  It includes 15 comprehensive lessons that facilitate social, emotional and self-regulatory strategies and skills for pre-K through middle school students.  For more information see www.thehawnfoundation.org

5. .B
The .b  curriculum was written by three experienced classroom teachers and mindfulness practitioners, Richard Burnett, Chris Cullen and Chris O’Neil to be used primarily with upper middle and high school students.  ".b" stands for“Stop, Breathe and Be!”  and serves as the kernel for each of  the nine session included in this course. It is taught with striking visuals, film clips and activities that bring mindfulness to life without losing the precision, expertise and integrity of classic mindfulness teaching.  For more information see www.mindfulnessinschools.org

6. Learning to BREATHE
This mindfulness-based curriculum for adolescents was created for a classroom or group setting. The curriculum is intended to strengthen emotion regulation and attention, expand adolescents’ repertoire of stress management skills and help them integrate mindfulness into daily life. Each lesson includes age-appropriate discussion, activities and opportunities to practice mindfulness skills in a group setting. Please visit http://learning2breathe.org/ to learn more.
